Mag Survey

Did a mag survey, fist proper one for us. learnt a lot of things about doing mag surveys.

It is a case of really trusting the kit and not seeing what isn't there.

Got hit by another great storm last night, lots of trees down and roads blocked. Should of churned up the sea bed and moved things around, just need some cold frosty days to get in for a dive. Bit of beach combing today I think.

Wooden stock Anchor Cornwall

Some photos of a old wooden stock anchor in North Cornwall England.

When I was told by a old smelly treasure hunter that you just need to look more and look with your eyes open. I thought he was nuts!! But he was right the more I look the more I find. And now I can stop finding targets and information.

Seeing things that have always been there, just changed my state of mind

Vis getting better

Just been down to Bovisands and the vis is coming back, about 2m at the moment. Lots of kelp washed up on the beach so should be good soon for shallow dives.

Is there any one else in the UK looking for sunken treasure or am I the last of the mohicans ?

Old copper Shipwreck pins?

Here are some spikes/nails I have found on a beach, all within about one foot of each other. I have been told that the reason they are bent and not broken is that they have a special treatment during there manufacturing process if they are to be used in ship building. This process allows them to bend with the timbers and not snap.

Fresh Find- old treasure ?

This is a fantastic clump of crud, lots of pebbles stuck to it. It so nice that we cant bring ourselves to break it open.I will try and video it when we do and maybe put it on youtube.

Water getting colder here in Plymouth, but still hope to make it all through the winter in my Xcel 7mm semi dry which gives me great performance. Hate diving in a dry suit.

Shipwreck conference

Every year in Plymouth UK there has been a Shipwreck conference on the first Saturday in Feb. This year will be there 30th year.

Over the years there has been some great speakers. It is a great place to meet friends and swap stories.

Last year there was standing room only with people coming from far and wide.

Not sure which speakers they have lined up this year, I think Mel Fishers grandson is one speaker.

you can check it out on http://www.shipwreckconference.org/

Just for a bit of fun: what do you think is the average age of the people at this gathering??

And why ??

Good dive yeasterday.

Had a good dive yesterday, found a piece of crud shaped like a bone, inside there is what looks like part of a ships fastening and a small latch.
